Intelligent Reflecting Surface Aided Multicasting With Random Passive Beamforming

چکیده
In this letter, we consider a multicast system where single-antenna transmitter sends common message to multiple users, aided by an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) equipped with N passive elements. Prior works on IRS have mostly assumed the availability of channel state information (CSI) for designing its beamforming. However, acquisition CSI requires substantial training overhead that increases N. contrast, propose in letter novel random beamforming scheme, performs independent reflection Q ? 1 times each coherence interval without need acquisition. For proposed first derive closed-form approximation outage probability, based which optimal best performance can be efficiently obtained. Then, purpose comparison, lower bound probability traditional CSI-based Numerical results show small is preferred high-outage regime (or high rate target) and becomes larger as decreases target decreases). Moreover, scheme significantly outperforms taken into consideration when and/or number users are large, thus offering promising CSI-free alternative existing schemes.

Optimum beamforming for MIMO multicasting
This paper investigates the transmit (Tx) beamforming design to maximize the throughput of a multiple-input multiple-output multicast channel, where common information is sent from the base station to K users simultaneously. This so-called max-min fair beamforming problem is known to be NP-hard. When the base station is equipped with two Tx antennas, we prove that the original complex-valued be...

In this paper, we explore the impacts of utilizing intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) in a power-splitting based simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (PS-SWIPT) system and compare its performance with the traditional decode and forward relaying system. To analyze a more practical system, it is also assumed that the receiving nodes are subject to decoding cost, and they are on...

We consider a device-to-device (D2D) aided multicast channel, where a transmitter wishes to convey a common message to many receivers and these receivers cooperate with each other. We propose a simple computationally efficient scheme requiring only statistical channel knowledge at transmitter. Our analysis in general topologies reveals that, when the number of receivers K grows to infinity, the...
متن کاملIntelligent Computer-Aided Engineering
The goal of Intelligent Computer-Aided Engineering (ICAE) is to construct computer programs which capture a signi cant fraction of an engineer's knowledge. Today ICAE systems are a goal, not a reality. This paper attempts to re ne that goal and suggest how to get there. We begin by examining several scenarios of what ICAE systems could be like. Next we describe why ICAE won't directly evolve fr...
متن کاملCLEAN Deconvolution Applied to Passive Compressed Beamforming
In this article, a matching pursuit algorithm is developed to improve the performance of a passive multiplexing technique based on compressed sensing. This deconvolution technique is applied to RADAR imaging in the microwave range, starting from previous studies based on a compact coding device and L1-norm regularizations. This study demonstrates that in this context, the quality of the reconst...
